PAST MEETING SPEAKER: BEN FABER, Ph.D., soils/water/subtropical crops advisor for Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties
Topic: Current Trends of Avocado Crops and Fire Impacts.

Dr. Faber spoke to the variety and location of our local avocado tree farms, the health and prospects for avocado crops, and the health and vitality of our local soils. He discussed origin and propogation of different varieties of Avocado. He also talked about current trends and developments in the industry.

OTHER BUSINESS

Ray Kolbe is seeking help with his work on the Santa Monica Creek Trail beautification in Carpinteria. The work this session (July 10) will be solarizing portions of the trail not yet weeded and planted. Specifically, this means spreading mulch and plastic and securing it with sandbags and rocks.

The scheduled time on Wednesday, July 10 is 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Call for more details: (805) 705-3429.
